MaC, the proprietor, was so helpful before and during our stay. He gave us very clear instructions for arriving via bus from Odawara station and great advice for accessing the attractions around Hakone. He was also very friendly and interesting to talk with. Interacting with him was a highlight of our time in Hakone! The location is a block away from Lake Ashi and the Hakone Sightseeing Cruise port, which allows you to board before the crowd of people get on at Motohakone, and across the street from the Hakonemachi-ko bus terminal. It is also just down the road from Onshi-Hakone Park, which is beautiful. We ate in the on-site restaurant the first night and really enjoyed the chicken hotpot. We were able to find a nearby restaurant the second night. The included breakfast was simple but provided a great start to the day. We had a Western-style room, which was a good size and comfortable.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Jemsty Inn Hakone Ashinoko, and our experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the host welcomed us with warmth and genuine hospitality. Throughout our stay, he went out of his way to ensure we felt at home, providing valuable insights about the local area and offering assistance. The traditional Japanese rooms were a highlight of our stay, featuring tatami flooring and comfortable futons. The aesthetic appeal of the rooms added to the overall charm, offering a truly authentic experience. We would highly recommend this inn to anyone seeking a genuine and comfortable Japanese accommodation experience in the heart of Hakone.

Mac is a great host and provided daily tips based on our proposed activity. Normally this was done over the breakfast that was included (with vegetarian option). Loved the traditional style room and tatami matts and futon. Aircon was a saviour during the cold rainy nights to stay cosy and warm. The view from our room included Mt Fuji on a clear day (as per photo). Location is extremely easy to get to, just take the bus to Hakonemachi-ko, get off at the end of the line and walk across the street. Just behind the bus station is the pirate ship dock. Far enough away from the hustle but with easy transport options to get around. The Hakone Free Pass made it even easier for the stay here.

The staff here are lovely - friendly, incredibly helpful and looked after us well. They made delicious foods for breakfast and dinner, and the convenient location (meals were served downstairs) made our short stay that much easier. The inn location is also very convenient - 5 minute walk from the main bus station and ferry port [where we caught the Hakone Pirate Ship]. We had no problems with wifi at the inn, had an air con/heater in the room and warm blankets for the cold days. The host taught us about Japanese customs [such as leaving our shoes downstairs before walking into the inn, having separate slippers for different parts of the house, etc.] which was interesting!

Good change from regular hotels. The strict protocols could be a bit off-putting to some western tourists at first, but it was great to experience genuine personal Japanese hospitality. We ordered the hotpot in advance. A most enjoyable meal. Cooked individually at the table, with the host explaining the different ingredients. Good location for the Hakone loop. As advised by the host, taking the first boat out (just across the road) at 9:30 am headed off the crowds. A very personal experience with the host seeing us off across the road.
